JESUS IS THE DOOR

Sometimes people will say there are different ways to get to God. They will say that God is on top of the mountain and any route can take you to God. The only thing of importance for them is to get to God. This argument is used to justify any religion. Let’s see what the Bible says about this.

“Then Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come, except to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.”

When someone enters your house without you inviting them in, you would say he/she is a thief. A thief wants to come and rob you, while Jesus wants you to experience an abundant life.

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.””

“There is no salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

“There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,”

Our only access to Father God is through Jesus. There is no other way to get to God. When John saw a vision of Heaven (Revelation 4) the first thing He saw was an open door (portal). John had to move through this door to get to God in Heaven. Jesus gave His life in order for us to now freely have access to our Father in Heaven. The veil in the temple that seperated people from God was torn with the crucifixion. After Jesus’ resurrection the Holy Spirit was poured out on earth.

Jesus is the only door that gives you full access to the Father.

Soms hoor ek mense sê daar is meer as een manier om by God te kom. Hulle sal sê dat God op die berg is en enige roete lei na God, solank jy net by God kom. Dit is ’n manier om enige geloof te regverdig. Kom ons kyk wat se God se Woord.

“Jesus het toe weer vir hulle gesê: Voorwaar, voorwaar Ek sê vir julle, Ek is die deur van die skape. Almal wat voor My gekom het, is diewe en rowers; maar die skape het nie na hulle geluister nie. Ek is die deur; as iemand deur My ingaan, sal hy gered word, en hy sal ingaan en uitgaan en weiding vind. Die dief kom net om te steel en te slag en te verwoes. Ek het gekom, dat hulle lewe en oorvloed kan hê. Ek is die goeie herder. Die goeie herder lê sy lewe af vir die skape.”

Wanneer iemand in jou huis inkom sonder dat jy hom deur die deur innooi sal jy sê hy is ’n dief. Die dief wil jou beroof terwyl Jesus die deur tot ’n oorvloedige lewe is.

“Jesus antwoord hom: Ek is die weg en die waarheid en die lewe; niemand kom na die Vader behalwe deur My nie. As julle My geken het, sou julle my Vader ook geken het, en van nou af ken julle Hom en het julle Hom gesien.”

“En die saligheid is in niemand anders nie, want daar is ook geen ander naam onder die hemel wat onder die mense gegee is, waardeur ons gered moet word nie.”

Die enigste toegang tot die Vader is deur Jesus. Daar is geen ander manier om by Vader God uit te kom nie. Toe Johannes ’n visioen van die Hemel gesien het het hy eerstens ’n geopende deur (“portal”) gesien (Openbaring 4). Johannes moes deur die deur beweeg om by God in die Hemel te kom. Jesus het Sy lewe gegee sodat ons nou vrylik toegang het tot die Vader. Die gordyn in die tempel wat die mens skei van God het geskeur toe Jesus sterf. Nadat Jesus opgevaar het is die Heilige Gees uitgestort.

Jesus is die enigste deur wat jou toegang gee tot die Vader.
