JESUS SE FAMILIE

“Maar terwyl hy dit in die gedagte gehad het, verskyn daar 'n engel van die Here in 'n droom aan hom en sê: Josef, seun van Dawid, wees nie bevrees om Maria, jou vrou, by jou te neem nie, want wat in haar verwek is, is uit die Heilige Gees;
MARKUS 16:1 AFR53
Jesus se broers was getroud.
I KORINTHIËRS 9:5 AFR53
I KORINTHIËRS 15:5-7 AFR53
En Hy antwoord hulle en sê: Wie is my moeder of my broers?”
“En Hy kyk rond na die wat rondom Hom sit, en sê: Dáár is my moeder en my broers! Want elkeen wat die wil van God doen, dié is my broer en my suster en moeder.”
MARKUS 3:31-35 AFR53

JESUS’ FAMILY
The virgin Mary became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was considered the eldest son of Mary and Joseph. Joseph (Matthew 1) and Mary (Luke 3) were descendants of the tribe of Judah and related to David. Joseph was a descendant of Solomon and Mary was a descendant of Nathan. Solomon and Nathan were sons of King David. Joseph was a carpenter and they had to go to Bethlehem to be counted.
Luke 2:4-5 TPT
So Joseph and his wife, Mary, left Nazareth, a village in Galilee, and journeyed to their hometown in Judea, to the village of Bethlehem, King David’s ancient home. They were required to register there, since they were both direct descendants of David. Mary was pregnant and nearly ready to give birth.
Matthew 1:18,20,23 TPT
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ took place. His mother, Mary, had promised Joseph to be his wife, but while she was still a virgin she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. [20] While he was still debating with himself about what to do, he fell asleep and had a supernatural dream. An angel from the Lord appeared to him and said, “Joseph, descendant of David, don’t hesitate to take Mary into your home as your wife, because the power of the Holy Spirit has conceived a child in her womb. [23] Listen! A virgin will be pregnant, she will give birth to a Son, and he will be known as “Emmanuel,” which means in Hebrew, “God became one of us.”
Elizabeth was a relative of Mary - Luke 1:36. Elizabeth was also the mother of John the Baptist and writers think John and Jesus were cousins.
John 19:25 TPT
Mary, Jesus’ mother, was standing next to his cross, along with Mary’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
Mary, the wife of Clopas, was possibly the sister-in-law of Mary if Clopas was Joseph’s brother. Some writers think Mary’s sister was Salome, the wife of Zebedee, and mother of the disciples John and James - Matthew 27:56. If this is true Jesus had more cousins.
Jesus’ half-brothers were **James, Joseph/Joses, Simon and Judas/Judah/Jude. Jesus also had sisters, but the Bible only mentions the name of 1 sister - Salome. They lived in Nazareth.
** According to TPT (The Passion Translation) Bible the name James should actually have been translated to Jacob in English.
Matthew 13:55-56 MEV
Is He not the carpenter's son? Is His mother not called Mary? And are not His brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? [56] And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?"
Mark 6:3 MEV
Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary and the brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?" And they took offense at Him.
Mark 15:40 MEV
There were also women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joseph, and Salome.
Matthew 27:56 MEV
among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee's sons.
Mark 16:1 KJV
And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
Jesus’ brothers were married.
1 Corinthians 9:5 MEV
Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife as do other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?
At first Jesus’ brothers didn’t believe that He was the Messiah. After His death and resurrection James and Judas(Jude) believed since each wrote a Bible book - Jude 1:1, James 1:1.
John 7:1-5 MEV
After these things Jesus walked in Galilee. He would not walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill Him. [2] Now the Jews' Feast of Tabernacles was at hand. [3] His brothers therefore said to Him, "Depart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You do. [4] For no one does anything in secret, while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, reveal Yourself to the world." [5] For even His brothers did not believe in Him.
Jesus appeared to His brother James and this possibly led to James and Jude’s faith in Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15:5-7 MEV
and was seen by Cephas, and then by the twelve. [6] Then He was seen by over five hundred brothers at once, of whom the greater part remain to this present time, though some have passed away. [7] Then He was seen by James and then by all the apostles.
Paul met James, the brother of Jesus.
Galatians 1:19 MEV
I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Lord's brother.
Acts 21:18 MEV
On the next day Paul went with us to James, and all the elders were present.
Writers think that Joseph (Mary’s husband) passed away earlier since the Bible doesn’t refer to him again. Once Mary and the brothers came to visit Jesus. Jesus then mentioned that everybody that does God’s will are His brothers and sisters. If you feel alone today, remember you have a Father in Heaven that sent His only Son in order for the Holy Spirit to come and live with you. You also have spiritual brothers and sisters that care for you. Through Jesus we became part of a much bigger heavenly family.
Mark 3:31-35 MEV
Then His mother and His brothers came, and standing outside, they sent to Him, calling Him. [32] The crowd sat around Him and said to Him, "Your mother and Your brothers are outside asking for You." [33] He answered, "Who are My mother and My brothers?" [34] Then He looked around at those who sat around Him and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! [35] For whoever does the will of God is My brother, and My sister, and My mother."
Ephesians 2:19-22 MEV
Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, [20] having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, [21] in whom the entire building, tightly framed together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, [22] in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God through the Spirit.
