Oxford Dictionary: “Leprosy is a contagious disease that affects the skin, mucous membranes, and nerves, causing discoloration and lumps on the skin and, in severe cases, disfigurement and deformities. Leprosy is now mainly confined to tropical Africa and Asia.”

Levíticus 13 has 59 verses explaining the laws about leprosy. If any part of a person’s body was swollen or had a scab or spot that could possibly be leprosy they had to be taken to the priest for examination. If the priest detect leprosy the person was considered unclean and had to live outside the camp. A leper had a very sad and lonely life. 


Leviticus 13:45-46 MEV
The man who has the leprous disease shall have torn clothes and disheveled hair; and he shall cover his mustache and shall cry, "Unclean, unclean." [46] All the days that he has the disease, he shall be defiled. He is unclean. He shall dwell alone, and he shall live outside the camp.


Naaman, the captain of the Aramean army, got leprosy. The prophet Elisha sent him to wash seven times in the Nile River and Naaman was healed. Only a miracle from God could save Naaman. Afterwards Naaman acknowledged that the God of Israel was the only God and he wanted to bless Elisha with a gift. Elisha refused to accept the gift. Gehazi, Elisha’s servant, was greedy and took the gift and consequently Gehazi became leprous.

Na Noag het almal jonger gesterf, maar het steeds ouer as 120 geword. Sem was 600, Arpágsad was 438, Selag was 433, Heber was 464, Peleg was 239, Rehu was 239, Serug was 230, Nahor was 148, Tera was 205, Abraham was 175, Isak was 180, Jakob was ouer as 147 (Génesis 47:28) en Josef was 110 (Génesis 50:22,26) toe hulle gesterf het. 
Josef was 13 generasies na Noag en hy was die eerste een wat jonger as 120 gesterf het. Moses was 120 jaar (Deuteronómium 34:7) en Josua was 110 (Josua 24:29) toe hulle gesterf het. As ons na Josef, Moses en Josua kyk is dit duidelik dat mense nie ouer as 120 geword het nie. Ons weet profesie neem tyd en dit kan ‘n moontlike verduideliking wees vir die vers.

As the votes are counted you might feel discouraged today. Only a small minority voted for the Christian parties. Yes, it would be nice if all the Christians can unite and we all vote for 1 party. I want to encourage you this morning that God sees your heart. He didn’t forget about you. Very often in Scripture His people were a minority, but things changed when He stepped in. God saved Noah and his family from the flood. God saved Lot and his daughters from destruction in Sodom. Elisha’s servant thought they were surrounded by the enemy, but they were actually surrounded by God’s army. God kept Paul and the whole crew safe when their ship was wrecked at Malta. In 1948 the nation of Israel was born in a day, after 6 million Jews were killed.

Strong’s H5146 Noah: rest
Strong’s G3575 Noe: rest - The KJV Bible use the Greek word Noe instead of Noah in Matthew and Luke while the books of Hebrews and Peter use the name Noah like the Old Testament. The meaning stays the same; both means “rest”.

Volgens die Joodse kalender is ons nou in die jaar 5784. Ons gebruik ‘n kalender wat verwys na die tyd na Jesus se geboorte. Dit is nou 2024 jaar na Christus se geboorte. Sommige skrywers glo Jesus is selfs 3 of 4 jaar vroeër gebore. Daar is dus  ‘n tydperk van ongeveer 3760 voor Christus se geboorte waar die gebeure van die Ou Testament plaasgevind het. Die begin (0) kan dus ook 3760 voor Christus wees.

Genesis 2:8-9 KJV
And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. [9] And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Once Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil nothing was stopping them from eating of the tree of life. This would have caused them to live forever while knowing evil. In contrast eternity in Heaven shields us from knowing evil. There are no worries, tears or pain in Heaven. I assume they didn’t eat from the tree of life before these events else they would have lived forever knowing evil.  Even though Adam and Eve were disobedient God still protected them.

In die Ou Testament lees ons baie verhale van slegte konings wat afgode aanbid en gevolglik gaan dit sleg met God se kinders. Wanneer ‘n koning God aanbid het, het dit goed gegaan met God se kinders. Sedekia was die laaste koning van Juda en weens sy sonde het die koning van Babel die land ingeneem. Nebukadnésar het die Jode in ballingskap weggevoer en die eerste tempel is verwoes - 586v.C. Later gee Kores (koning van Persië) toestemming dat die Jode terugkeer na Israel en die tweede tempel word herbou - 520v.C.

The concept that there is no beginning or end to God is difficult to grasp. Genesis 1 sketches the creation of earth, the stars, the moon, sun, plants, animals and the first people. Father God, Jesus and Holy Spirit already existed then and they created the earth. Man was created in their image.
