Sending out the 70

When you read these verses, imagine Jesus is giving these instructions to you. Most of us are not called to exclusively spread the message, but we can all incorporate this strategy into our daily life.
Luke 10:2 TPT
He released them with these instructions: “The harvest is huge. But there are not enough harvesters to bring it in. As you go, plead with the Owner of the Harvest to send out many more workers into his harvest fields.
There are many people out there that need encouragement and need to know Jesus loves them. We can pray for more workers, but at the same time we can spread the truth.
Luke 10:3 TPT
Now, off you go! I am sending you out even though you feel as vulnerable as lambs going into a pack of wolves.
Jesus knew that we will feel vulnerable in this world, but if we are not spreading the light, darkness will take over. We have to be led by Holy Spirit and not by our feelings. Holy Spirit will put the words in our mouths. Our mission is to bring Jesus’ peace, salvation and healing to this dark world.
Luke 10:5-6,9 TPT
“Once you enter a house, speak to the people there and say, ‘God’s blessing of peace be upon this house!’ [6] If a lover of peace resides there, your peace will rest upon that household. But if you are rejected, your blessing of peace will come back upon you. [9] Heal the sick, and tell them all, ‘God’s kingdom has arrived and is now within your reach!’
If somebody rejects your message don’t take it personally. The person rejects Jesus and hopefully a seed was sown. Holy Spirit will show you when it’s time to move on and when you should keep talking to someone.
Luke 10:11,16 TPT
‘We wipe from our feet the very dust of your streets as a testimony before you! Understand this: God’s kingdom came within your reach and yet you have rejected God’s invitation!’ ” [16] Jesus concluded his instructions to the seventy with these words: “Remember this: Whoever listens to your message is actually listening to me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me, and not only me but the one who sent me.”
The 70 had the authority to cast out demons. Jesus gave us the same authority. I love that Jesus understands that we feel like sheep amongst wolves, but still gave us authority over the darkness.
Luke 10:19 TPT
Now you understand that I have imparted to you my authority to trample over his kingdom. You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will harm you as you walk in this authority.
We all have different gifts and some things will come naturally while others take more work. People might not get healed the first time you pray, but we will grow in authority as we “practice” and use our gifts. Start somewhere today and you will grow in authority. Jesus also grew in wisdom and authority.
Luke 2:52 TPT
As Jesus grew, so did his wisdom and maturity. The favor of men increased upon his life, for he was greatly loved by God.
