Silo beteken heel, goeie, stil, veilig, gesond of oorvloed.
is gebore.
I SAMUEL 3:21 AFR53
1 Samuel 2:27-36, 14:3, 1 Konings 2:27, 1 Kronieke 23:25:
Ahía, ‘n agterkleinkind van Elí, was ‘n priester in Silo.
Psalms 78:55-68, Jeremia 7:12-15, 26:6,9, 1 Konings 14:2:

SHILOH
Shiloh: place of rest - BDB LEXICON
Shiloh was a town in Ephraim, close to Bethel, where the tabernacle stood from the time of Joshua to the time of Samuel - NAVE’S TOPICAL BIBLE REFERENCE.
‘Shiloh means “whole,” “sound,” “quiet,” “secure,” “health,” or “abundance.” After seven years of conquest, the Israelites moved the tabernacle that Moses had constructed in the wilderness from Gilgal to Shiloh, where it remained for 369 years. Shiloh became the center of worship throughout the time of the Judges (also the time of the book of Ruth)’ - TPT BIBLE.
Joshua 18-22:
There were still 7 tribes that had to receive their land when Joshua and the Israelites reached Shiloh. They set up the tabernacle and placed the ark of the covenant inside it. The men had to explore the land and write down their findings. At Shiloh, in God’s presence, Joshua alotted land to the last 7 tribes. The Levites only received cities to stay in. Ruben, Gad and Manasseh could then leave Shiloh and return to their inheritance in Gilead, east of the Jordan. The number 7 reminds us of rest and peace and that is what they found in Shiloh.
Judges 18-21:
While the tabernacle was in Shiloh the tribe of Dan robbed Micah of his idols and worshipped them.
Due to the sins of the Benjaminites they almost disappeared as a tribe; only 600 men survived. The other tribes didn’t want to give their daughters to them as wives. They had to find wives among the women of Shiloh.
1 Samuel 1-5:
The childless Hannah went to the tent in Shiloh to ask the Lord for a son. The Lord saw her tears and answered her prayer with the birth of the prophet Samuel. Everything Samuel prophesied happened. Eli and his sons died due to their sins. The Philistines attacked Israel and removed the ark of the covenant from Shiloh. At this time Eli’s grandson Ichabod was born and the glory departed from the Israelites. The Philistines sent the ark back after 7 months when they started to die from tumours.
1 Samuel 3:21 MEV
And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh. For the LORD revealed Himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.
1 Samuel 2:27-36, 14:2, 1 Kings 2:27, 1 Chronicles 23:25:
Samuel anointed Saul and later David as kings. After their death the new king Solomon built a temple in Jerusalem. The ark of the covenant was placed inside the temple and this became the new place of rest. Solomon expelled Abiathar from being a priest of the Lord, since he was a family member of Eli. Unfortunately Solomon started to sin and after his death the Israelites were divided in 2 kingdoms - Ephraim/Israel/the northern kingdom and Judah/the southern kingdom. Ahijah, a great grandson of Eli, was now a priest in Shiloh.
Psalms 78:55-68, Jeremiah 7:12-15, 26:6,9, 1 Kings 14:2:
After the kingdom was divided Ephraim built 2 golden calves and started to worship idols. Jeroboam, the first king of Ephraim, sent his wife to Shiloh to consult the priest Ahijah. Ephraim didn’t want to go to Jerusalem to worship God, but went back to Shiloh to consult a priest there. It is never a good idea to get stuck in the ways of the past. When God moves His people should also move and keep following Him wholeheartedly. All of this led to the destruction of Shiloh and the 10 tribes of the northern kingdom were dispersed among the nations.
The name Shiloh gets mentioned 33 times in the KJV Bible. The first time it’s mentioned it refers to Jesus. All the others refer to the town. Even the number 33 reminds us of Jesus. It so comforting to know that nothing is a suprise to God. From the beginning He knew that we will need Jesus as our resting place. Knowing that we can rest in Him will carry us through every difficulty.
Genesis 49:10 MEV
The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to him will be the obedience of the people.
