THE DESIRE OF ALL NATIONS

- 2 minutes read - 366 wordsHaggai 2:7 NKJV
and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,' says the LORD of hosts.
In the following verses we can see how modern Bible translations are taking the emphasis away from Jesus and deliberately placing the emphasis on man’s desire for money and earthly possessions. The presence of the Father brought glory to the first temple. Jesus is the ONE that brought glory to the second temple; the silver and gold objects never brought any glory to the temple. It’s the presence of Holy Spirit that will bring glory to you; earthly possessions are a blessing from God and can’t bring the glory. An intimate relationship with Jesus is man’s deepest heart’s desire.
Haggai 2:7 MEV
And I will shake all the nations, and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of Hosts.
Haggai 2:7 KJV
And I will shake all nations, and the desire (or Desire) of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.
Haggai 2:7 AMPC
And I will shake all nations and the desire and the precious things of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with splendor, says the Lord of hosts.
AMPC FOOTNOTE V7:
“It is with great reluctance that we refrain from capitalizing the word “desire” here, thus making the phrase point directly to the Messiah, as has been the accepted interpretation through many centuries until modern times. But the verb “shall come” has a plural referent, and, as many commentators agree, refers to the most desired treasures that all nations will bring as gifts to adorn the temple where the Messiah will one day come. Thus the Messianic reference of the prophecy is neither questioned nor obscured, but the picture presented is like that of the coming of the Magi (Matt. 2:1-12) to find the Babe of Bethlehem, the Desire of all of them; and when they found Him they fell down and worshiped Him, bringing Him their most desirable treasures—gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”
